British landing craft, Falmouth docks, Cornwall. 1943

Twenty five Royal Naval ratings and Royal Marines on an unidentified landing craft. The photograph is taken from the jetty looking down. At the front of the group, wearing a cap, is a Petty Officer of the medical branch. He also displays a combined operations badge on the right cuff of his jacket. A Marine corporal is sitting at the back of the group. A large bunch of bananas is being held up by members of the group. Bananas would have been a very rare luxury during the Second World War.
