East Pool Mine, Illogan, Cornwall. 1893
A bridge has been constructed at the 170 fathoms level to carry the tram road over a place where the lode has been stoped away. While two miners carry out works above the tram road bridge, another miner pushes a tub filled with rock/ore across the bridge. The miners, probably testing the strength of the roof, are balanced on top of the bridge with apparently little concern for the yawning abyss below them. Photographer: John Charles Burrow
