The obverse features Janus, a god with two faces, looking in opposite directions (the past and the future) surrounded by the inscription M FOVRI L F. The month of January is named after Janus. The reverse pictures Roma wearing a Corinthian helmet and holding a sceptre with a crowning trophy flanked by a carnyx and shield on each side. Roman Republic (125-100 BC)
