Granite outcrop on top of Carn Brea, Illogan, Cornwall. Early 1900s
Granite outcrop with Carn Brea castle just visible in the distance. Two men, one holding a pick axe, can be seen in the centre and a group of well dressed ladies and gentlemen can be seen on the left. The castle was built by the Basset family of Tehidy, as a hunting lodge or folly, in the 18th and 19th century but incorporating some fabric which is believed to be medieval. Photographer: Unknown
