Jigsaw Puzzles from Royal Cornwall Museum

Motor car and motor buses outside Hills Hotel, The Lizard, Landewednack, Cornwall. After 1903

Great Western Railway buses with drivers, ticket inspector and passengers. A woman is seated on top of the larger bus, with luggage. The smaller bus (CO-71) is pictured with a passenger, the driver in front and a man standing. A car (AF-18) with a woman and child, and driver standing by. In the background can be seen the Hills Hotel, farm buildings and a serpentine workshop also advertising boat hire. Great Western Railway posters can be seen on the right hand side. The hotel became the terminus of the first railway operated motor bus service in Great Britain when a service was introduced by the Great Western Railway on 17th August 1903. The service proved so successful that it was extended to other part of Cornwall and Devon. Photographer: Arthur Philp
