Gumbo Flyers, Lostwithiel, Cornwall. July 1991

A new group in Lostwithiel playing the Cajun and Zydeco music of Louisiana, USA, had their first outing at the Globe Inn, Lostwithiel, on carnival night, to foot-thumping acclaim. The group was founded by by Pete Turner (centre) who returned from the southern states of America where he had spent the previous 6 weeks soaking up the atmosphere. The group were still playing, albeit with a different line up, in pubs and at events throughout Cornwall in 2018. Other members, from left to right, are Richard Marks, Oscar Morse, Tony Taylor and Alan Rogers. Photographer: Jonathan Barker
