Pentewan harbour, Cornwall. 1914
A view from the west side of the harbour showing the timber narrow gauge railway gantry. Trucks full of china clay wait to be loaded into the sailing vessels via the wooden chutes that can be seen in the raised position above the vessel on the left of the picture. The narrow gauge railway ran from St Austell to Pentewan harbour with China clay for shipment. The nearer vessel is the barquentine Imogene originally built as the Strathendrick.
