Logan Rock, Treryn Dinas, near Treen, St Levan, Cornwall. 1894
Hand coloured slide from Tour through Cornwall No.39 showing a close up with the Logan Rock, or rocking stone, at the top. Perched 30 metres above the sea, the naturally occurring piece of granite attracted tourists due to its ability to rock back and forth on the cliff top with the slightest touch. It was dislodged by a group of sailors in 1824 who were then forced to reposition it at their own expense. The headland of Treryn Dinas is also the site of an Iron Age promontory fort.
