Lanherne Convent, St Mawgan in Pydar, Cornwall. Early 1900s
A grotto with a statue of Our Lady, and another small figure, in the grounds of Lanherne Convent. Lanherne was formerly the Manor House of the Arundell family and home of the prominent Catholic Sir John Arundell in the 16th century. It became a place of refuge for many priests during the Reformation. In 1794 the manor was given to the Carmelite nuns and still runs as a convent. Photographer: Unknown
