Mr Walter Beard, aged 45, was a member of Truro Town Council and drowned at St Agnes trying to rescue his son Percy, aged 16. Percy also drowned but his body was not found until 2 months later. The street is lined with people paying their respects as the procession of horse drawn carriages passes. Photographer: Arthur William Jordan
