Missionary Exhibition, Boscawen Street, Truro, Cornwall. 1913
Missionary Exhibition in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. The photograph shows hand embroidered Albanian wedding coats, or Piripiri, dating from the late 1800s. These coats were worn on special occasions by members of the Turkish community living in Albania. The label on the left hand coat states that it is an embroidered brides dress from Greece, loaned by Mrs Hawkins. The wedding coat was donated to the Royal Cornwall Museum by Mrs C.H.T. Hawkins after the exhibition finished. Photographer: Arthur William Jordan
