Framed Photos from Royal Cornwall Museum

Former Royal Cornwall Museum building looking east with St Marys Methodist Chapel in the distance, Union Place, Truro. Around 1910

The Royal Institution of Cornwalls collections had outgrown the Union Place building at the time this photograph was taken and plans were in place to relocate to the museums current premises in River Street. The opening ceremony of the new museum building was held on 11th June 1919. The old museum building was demolished along with the old Post Office (possibly in the late 1960s) to build a new Marks and Spencer store. St Marys Methodist Chapel is now known as St Marys Church and was also called St Mary Clement Methodist Chapel for a short time when St Clements Street Chapel was closed down. Photographer: Unknown
