The Volunteer Fire Brigade in action in Truro with a number of onlookers. Men are hand pumping hoses along with a steam powered engine. The Truro Volunteer Brigade was formed in 1868 and had two fire engines and an escape housed in a station in St Marys Street. The brigade moved its premises firstly to the Town Hall and, in 1882, a new fire station was opened in High Cross. Photographer: Arthur William Jordan
