The drainage from the toilets at that time, and for some years after, was straight into the River Kenwyn flowing underneath the building. Advertisements, including one for McDougalls self raising flour, can be seen on the side of 81 Lemon Street to the left of the photograph. Photographer: Arthur William Jordan
