Rugby Union match, Redruth, Cornwall. 28th March 1912
A crowd of 17, 000 watching a County Championship Final between Cornwall and Durham at Redruth. The photograph is thought to have been taken in the first half and shows a scrum. Cornwall, in the striped shirts, won 17-3 and, by winning the trophy, went on to represent Great Britain at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. Only two teams competed and Great Britain (Cornwall) were defeated by Australasia 32-3. They did however come away with an Olympic silver medal. Photographer: Samuel John Govier
