Naval Reunion, Fowey, Cornwall. October 1991
Naval veterans revisited Fowey for a reunion of their wartime colleagues and met with the mayor, Hilda Court. Men of the Royal Navy 551 Assault Flotilla Group were stationed in the port in 1945 and helped in the D-Day landings and liberation of the Channel Islands. During the war, the Group set up winter quarters in huts at the Windmill area of the town whilst the officers stayed in Fowey Hall. Three officers made the nostalgic trip: Lt Fred Grant; Lt Tony Drew and Lt Earnest Pallant. The group are pictured in Fowey Hall, now a hotel. Photographer: Jonathan Barker .
