The Barbican, Lanhydrock, Cornwall. May 1930
The gatehouse known as The Barbican at Lanhydrock. The 17th century gatehouse predates the house which was largely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1881. Built in the 17th century for the Robartes family, all that remained of the house after the fire was the north wing, the entrance porch and gatehouse. The house was given to the National Trust in 1953. Photographer: Herbert Hughes
