Framed Photos from Royal Cornwall Museum

Truro railway station, Cornwall. Early 1900s

A crowd of people including many horse riders outside the station. A brass band stands under the canopy on the left. Two horse drawn carriages outside the station advertise the Royal Hotel and the Red Lion Hotel. This was possibly on the occasion of a royal visit and appears to have been taken before Coronation Terrace was cut. The central tower of Truro Cathedral can be seen in the background. The western towers, which are not visible, were dedicated in 1910 so the picture must have been taken prior to that date. Photographer: Arthur Philp
