The foundation stone is in the side wall of 3 Kenwyn Road (the first) which is on the corner of Kenwyn Road and Hendra Road (formerly known as New Road). It reads " 1921 N.B. Bullen, Mayor. R.K. Worth, Chairman of Housing Committee. F.A. Barnes, City Surveyor." The houses were erected as workmens dwellings by the City Council under the governments housing scheme.
